THE STRATTON LAB

Remember the first time you rode a bike or went on an airplane? Have you ever thought about how impressive it is that you can remember that far back in your life? We have! Our lab is particularly interested in understanding how a memory can outlast the lifetime of the molecule that encodes it. We remember details for years, however the components within the cells of our brain are degraded on a much faster time-scale (minutes to days). We are studying these problems at the molecular level, looking at proteins involved in LTP and synaptic remodeling.

Our favorite protein is CaMKII, but we’re working on some other awesome proteins as well – check out our research page for more info!
